One of the great advantages of our beautiful town of Bandol is its human scale. A seaside resort, blending Provençal culture with Mediterranean pleasures, all in a village atmosphere where everything can be done on foot... In order to fully enjoy the atmosphere sweet life de Bandol, the best is still to leave your car at home ! Even if this one helped you to go down to the south and it will undoubtedly be useful to you to visit the cities and surrounding villages, to get around Bandol, nothing beats walking. As a bonus, depending on where you live, your stroll setting will sometimes be the sea, sometimes the pretty residential areas or even the shopping streets.
From the reception of our tourist office, the most remote residential area to the west, that of Engraviers, is located at 45 minutes walking. To get there, you will have to follow the coastal path… There are worse morning walks! And on the eastern side, towards the Aqueduct for example, count on about 25 minutes.
For the rest of the essential places in your daily life, namely the port and the pier for sea cruises, the town hall square and its entertainment, the theater and its shows or even the shopping streets like those around the church, everything is less thanten minutes.
So, hop on your shopping cart, put on your evening attire or, book your excursion tickets and enjoy a relaxing journey to your destination, without cars, traffic jams and in the great outdoors!

How far is it to enjoy the beaches of Bandol?

After everyday life, it's time for the stars of spring and summer: The beaches ! On this map, you can see the walking times from the city center to the various coves of the city, but also the distances from the train station, for those who are only there for a few hours. And the good news is that no matter where you live in Bandol, a bay where you can cool off will never be far away!
For example, still departing from our tourist office, Engraviers beach, located on the border of our neighboring town, Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, it is located at 40 minutes walking. But rest assured, it won't be the only one on your way. The famous Renecros beach and then Capelan beach will be there to satisfy the most impatient vacationers! As for the bays in the city center, they are all within 5 minutes approximately at intervals. A great way to sail from beach to beach with the wind in order to try them all during your stay.
Finally, since the train station, if you are looking for a nice sandy cove, you can be in the water in less than 10 minutes on the Renecros side. And for those who prefer pebbles, the Capelan peninsula, its crystal clear waters and seabed ideal for snorkeling will be your reward after a little more than 20 minutes of journey…
🏖️ Good to know Bandol is divided in two! To the east, the sandy beaches, and to the west, the pebble ones. So, are you more of a mattress on the floor and jellyfish on your feet to avoid the hassle of sand between your toes? Or are you more of a lazy-day-to-the-end kind, with just a towel for a moment of pure relaxation?
Is it possible to visit Bandol without a car?
The answer is yes and yes again ! At least, if you like to get some fresh air and stay in the city.
And, at worst, solutions exist:
- Plan B : the Bandol Bus. Shuttles are set up throughout the city to connect neighborhoods. The perfect option if you've gotten a little too carried away with your shopping and need a little help getting back to your vacation rental.
- Plan C : ZOU busesThese allow you to connect to neighboring towns such as Saint-Cyr-sur-mer, Sanary-sur-Mer or even Toulon. They are a good way to discover the surrounding area without worrying about parking.

Holiday fun made easy
La freedom regained from a daily life where everything is accessible on foot, this is one of the most enjoyable things about a vacation in Bandol. Fancy breakfast on the terrace? Put on your sandals and sunglasses and head to one of the bars in the town center. Need to stock up on delicious seasonal fruits and vegetables? Grab your wicker basket and hat and head the markets of Bandol. Planned evening at the port to enjoy the mild summer nights? Leave your car keys in your vacation location and go down with the rest of the locals to participate in the activities organized by the city.
In other words, live simply, enjoy it to the fullest and blend in with the crowd... Because if there is one sport that every Bandol resident loves above all else, it is walking through the alleys of their beloved city!
