Another must-see walk after the coastal path, the Bandol Classic. This hike will take you to the heights of Bandol for a breathtaking spectacle.

know the bandol classic trail

Before starting, it is important to know where you are stepping. The Bandol Classic begins on the port of Bandol and do a loop that passes through the heights of the city. Part of this hike is better known to locals as “Rousagnon”.

On the map below, you can see the route of this walk. This is indicated in red, to clearly differentiate it from the coastal path which is indicated in blue. To download this map, click here.

The trail is marked from start to finish by wooden posts like the ones below:

fire prevention

Prévention incendie Var Bandol

Every year, fires threaten the Var flora and fauna. The worst part is thatall it takes is one butt to set an entire pine forest ablaze. So, to continue to browse our beautiful Bandol Classic for many years to come and to protect homes, let's all be careful!

along the Bandol coast

This hike starts at the same place as the coastal path, the port of Bandol. It follows exactly the same path, at least at the beginning. You will cross the beautiful beach of Renecros, can admire pretty pebble coves below, pass by Pointe Encanet from where you can also admire fabulous sunsets, to finally arrive at the english cove. This is where the two trails separate. At the top of the climb to the small beach, turn right to continue on the road. Closely follow the wooden posts which will show you the direction.

stroll in the Var forest

After 10 minutes of walking, you will pass a barrier and begin to enter the forest. And this is where it gets interesting. In general, this walk is relatively little known, you will not come across as many people as on the coastal path. You will therefore be alone or almost, lost in this beautiful Var flora, under the umbrella pines, with local aromatic herbs as sidewalks: rosemary, thyme, wild asparagus... After a few kilometers of walking, the golf course will appear on your left. The lush green lawn is almost shocking with your little dirt path and the dark green pines.

take height

After golf you will start to climb. On your left a barrier will appear. Important information: don't cross this barrier, you risk arriving on private property! Simply follow the markers, these wooden posts which are today your compass. As you walk, the path will clear. The thick forest will give way to a large and wide path.

Randonnée Bandol Classic

After about 2 hours of walking you will arrive at the highlight of the show. You will be on the heights of Bandol with an incredible view on the horizon and on the neighboring bays. De the Bay of Bandol at Bec de l'Aigle La Ciotat your field of vision will seem infinite.

Some say it is the most beautiful view of Bandol. Especially when the sun starts to set. And that's true. It's a view that few people know, even pure Bandoleans. You are lucky to be here. Take the opportunity to treat yourself to a well-deserved break, nibble a snack, just admire the view and savor the present moment.

the way back

We call it the way back because the highlight of the show is behind us, but in reality the ride continues. Come back down from your hill and continue to follow the markers. After crossing the railway bridge and strolling through the streets of the city, you will quickly return to the seaside.
