Formerly used by customs officials to thwart the malice of smugglers, the coastal path is a space long used by a
multitude of users with diverse & varied aspirations ...

Distance: 22 km

All year.

Please note: from June 12 to 30, 2023, the coastal path will be cut between La Galère (submarine) and Port d'Alon. In fact, from Bandol, the calanque will be inaccessible on foot, hikers will have to stop before (about 1h30 walk from the tourist office). Port d'Alon Cove remains open to the public and is still accessible by car.

------------

The Conservatoire du Littoral and the General Council of Var have acquired sensitive land along the path (Capélan peninsula,
Grenier) in order to protect the last remarkable natural spaces and to rehabilitate degraded spaces, financially and / or managed by local authorities.
These spaces, open to all, are privileged fields of observation of flora and fauna or quite simply places of relaxation and well-being.

This trail is a pure wonder to discover!

But be careful, this is not a loop.
The Tourist Office will provide you with the timetables for the bus timetable between Bandol and Les Lecques if you wish to travel it in the other direction.
This will save you an 8 hour round trip! Shoes, hat, water, snacks from the bag ...

From the port of Bandol to Engraviers
3,5 km, 1h
From the Tourist Pavilion, walk along the harbor promenade to the west. Go around the stadium. Cross the large parking lot by the sea. On your right, you will see the cliff of the Castle which presents a basalt ball pudding, vestige of the volcanic eruptions of Evenos 9 km away.
To the south, beautiful view of the island of Bendor. The seaside along the path leading to the beach has a characteristic erosion, alternating scalloped points and giant pots. One of them was man-made into a rectangular basin and bears the name of "Trou de Madame".
Legend has it that this basin was made for the sea baths of the manor who lived just above. More likely, it must be a breeding ground. Go around Rènecros Beach up to the stairs which, along the former Hôtel Le Splendid, will take you to Avenue Maréchal Foch, then Albert 1er.
The Rue du Languedoc begins again the path which runs alongside the tennis courts, passing under the Aleppo pines lying in the wind.
Maritime Crithme and Arborescent Alfalfa stand side by side. Strong marine erosion. The hiker will find a belvedere fitted out with benches and an orientation table at the Encanet point.
We observe various operations of revegetation of eroded areas with endemic plants (maritime cinariae, junipers, sea fennel). You come to the creeks and the Capélan peninsula. The path widens, partly passable. Note the networks of the root system tracing the Aleppo pine.
We cross the Athéna residence to finally descend to the Engraviers beach. At point A, beautiful views of Ile Rousse, a breeding ground for marine avifauna, the Calanques de Cassis, Ile de Riou, Calsereigne, Bec de l'Aigle and La Ciotat. There is an information panel at the edge of the municipalities of Bandol and St-Cyr.

From Engraviers to Port d'Alon
2,8 km, 0h50
From point B: the trail passes through a shady forest, easy apart from a few more marked “steep hills”. Magnificent anemomorphosis of the Aleppo pine (witch's brooms).
In the brightest parts of the undergrowth, multi-flowered heather, mastic tree, smilax, kermes oaks, cistus, frame junipers, narrow-leaved cordaria. From the tip of Engraviers to the Baie de la Moutte, the path follows the Dolce de Frégate area, which is home to a renowned vineyard and an 18-hole golf course (avoid entering it for safety reasons). In C, magnificent viewpoint on La Galère, with its famous rock in the shape of a submarine.
The color of the water varies depending on the substrate cover: sand, seagrass (posidonia oceanica) or rocks. The Baie de la Moutte and the La Galère site are prohibited from access by municipal decree n ° 2001-05-777. From point D to Port d'Alon (point E) the route is on track. Be careful of the change of direction (chicane). The cove of Port d'Alon was acquired by the Conservatoire du Littoral.
It is in fact a double calanque which seen from the sky forms a heart. Strong contrast between the extremely arid coastal border and the plant cover which immediately follows it. The pretty little beach is accessible by road (paying parking on weekends from Easter to the end of June, and every day in July and August), snack bar, emergency call terminal which operates 24 hours a day every day. of the year.
