The Town of Six-Fours-Les-Plages has carried out the requalification of the Parc de la Méditerranée which was inaugurated in 1988 (nearly 36 years ago).
It begins at the Maison du Cygne (remarkable garden and art center), takes the Chemin de La Coudoulière, completely renovated as a pedestrian path, crossing the natural and peaceful atmosphere of the woods and the Domaine de la Coudoulière to the marina, crosses the Mediterranean Park, ending at the Cap Nègre Battery transformed into a place of artistic exhibition like a lookout planted facing the Azure of the sea and the sky.
Beyond the imagination to which its name is attached, this park takes us on a journey through various landscapes of regions with a Mediterranean climate, passing through the smells of maquis and scrubland.
The Mediterranean Park, like a large belvedere over the sea, offers an ambitious development worthy of the site. Starting from the geography of the site, its floors, its views, contrasts, its open or enclosed spaces... we have chosen to offer developments oriented towards the sea.
The site is made up of both an urban park on the city side which concentrates the equipment and developments and a natural park facing the sea where the developments will be very sober and respectful of the natural character of the area.
In the “designed” park we will find numerous spaces for relaxation and discovery:
- thematic gardens (arid garden and acclimatization garden) with botanical collections specific to its ecosystems, a Mediterranean garden with a water path, an aquatic garden with a pond and water jets running alongside a large pergola;
- the entertainment garden with a new stage space dedicated to summer shows and a Storybook Garden with a more intimate stage space dedicated to readings and stories;
- a play area for children including a new marine-themed play area and a 'teenager' area with the creation of a bowl for thrill-seekers (skateboards, scooters and bmx);
Among the facilities, we also note thematic signage throughout the site allowing you to become familiar with the naturalist notions of botany, fauna, geology, etc.
It should also be noted that the water for watering and supplying the pools and water jets comes from drilling on the beach located below the park.
The Parc de la Méditerranée is a must-see site in the Var. It is at the same time a place for walks, a place for games and a wonderful viewpoint over our Mediterranean shores.
