Véronique Matteudi is a graduate of the Grenoble School of Fine Arts and the Villa Arson in
Nice. She spent her entire childhood in the Vercors massif. Today settled in the region
from Toulouse, she has devoted herself mainly to sculpture for around twenty years and
participates in numerous events related to art and the environment.

She creates mainly with plants, wild clematis (vines), minerals or earth.
It is through immersion in the reality of the landscape that creation becomes for her a vector of
connection and dialogue between man and nature.

I find my inspiration in nature and particularly in the world of the forest. I collect
wild clematis vines in the undergrowth. These vines grow and intertwine between
They use the trees as support, making a vertical path towards the light. Then
I weave volumes in the manner of this plant which grows, by the process of interlacing.
Wild clematis has become a vector of connection in recent years, it is like a
thought which unfolds and is plastically embodied with the encounter of a place, a landscape.
The volumes I create are graphic, empty inside, the surrounding space interpenetrates
the form. They are in some way membrane frames which surround the void, reveal it. Our
The gaze passes through the form, it is not stopped at the surface. I am interested in this back and forth,
to the resonance that emanates from this void. My sculptures thus appear in filigree, like a
plant X-ray juxtaposed with the landscape.

My works seek to weave links between the multiple forms of life.
