Today, we invite you to leave Bandol… Well, just for a few hours, and certainly not too far! Heading towards Le Beausset, gain some altitude and admire the Provençal landscape as it gently unfolds. The sea recedes, the vineyards take over, the road becomes more winding, and then, around a bend, a hidden gem appears. This is where Domaine Souviou is tucked away. A place we often hear about, but one we had never taken the time to explore. So, to give you the best possible information, we went to see what it really has to offer. Spoiler : It was so great.

An arrival that sets the tone

Domaine Souviou Le Beausset

Even before passing through the gate of the field SouviouEven before the tour begins, something happens. The experience is already underway. And for good reason, the road that connects Le Beausset to the Paul Ricard circuit quickly takes on the air of a stroll.

We're climbing slowly. the landscapes open up, and each turn offers a new perspective. On one side, the perched villages From Castellet and La Cadière-d'Azur. On the other side, neatly aligned plots of vines, with the Mediterranean as a backdrop. Even the Bec de l'Aigle can be glimpsed in the distance. We slow down almost naturally, without really knowing why.

Domaine Souviou Le Beausset - Oliviers

Then we arrive at the wrought-iron gate. And there, the atmosphere changes. The paths become white, stony, bordered by scrubland, olive trees, and vineyards. The estate stretches over no less than 95 hectares : And you can feel it immediately. The space, the calm, the light, everything is there for a few hours spent between nature and delicious food.

The guide's advice: The estate is very, very large. Several access points connect different parts of the vineyard. To avoid getting lost, be sure to follow the "Caveau" signs.

a vibrant estate steeped in history

Domaine Souviou Le Beausset - Exposition

Once we arrived at the famous cellar (thank goodness for the signage!), we met Océane, who accompanied us throughout the visit. The tone was set: simple, accessible, without overly formulaic languageShe suggests we discover a blend of the two tours offered on the estate, which allows us to have a fairly complete view and therefore to be able to give you equally comprehensive feedback.

We quickly understand that the Souviou Estate it is not limited to a vineyard classic. However beautiful it may be with their vintages in AOC BandolIndeed, the first written records of the estate date back to the 16th century, but some olive trees The items present on the estate are much older.

Domaine Souviou Le Beausset

At the time, the site functioned as a genuine Provençal farm : olive trees, vines, cereals, vegetable crops… All structured around the terraces, these dry stone walls that can still be seen today all over the region, and on the estate.

As we move forward, we also cross paths with several vestiges from that era : a 15th century bastide, a chapel, a borie (small Provençal stone hut), wells, old threshing floors… Nothing is overplayed, but everything is there. Nothing is purely decorativeEverything has been useful at some point. And that profoundly changes the way we look at the field.

Between ancient olive trees and modern know-how

During the visit, one moment stands out in particular. In the middle of the terraced gardens, two olive trees attract everyone's attention. Nicknamed "The King" and "The Queen" These ancient trees, the mascots of the place, are simply breathtaking. Their thick, almost sculpted trunks bear witness to the passage of time here on a different scale. Two natural beauties basking in the summer sun. Var.

So, rest assured, the estate doesn't live solely in the pastThe real work begins. The tour then continues to the cellar, where another facet of the place is revealed. As an appetizer, a small photo exhibition retraces its evolution, before giving way to explanations about winemaking.

Océane, our dear guide, takes the time to explain the differences between the wines, the methods usedwithout ever getting too technical. We move from stainless steel tanks to stoneware jars, from large casks to barrels, always with the same idea of blending modernity and traditionto capture the best of both areas of expertise. And you know what, it works.

Time for the long-awaited tasting!

Domaine Souviou Le Beausset - Boutique

It's difficult to finish a visit like this without going through the tasting roomAs passionate guides, we felt it was our duty to make sacrifices to ensure the local products met your expectations. You know us, we'd do anything for you, our beloved vacationers 💘

Heading to the cellar, where we discover wines and olive oilsTwo nectars produced on the estate. Here again, the approach remains simple. We taste, we exchange ideas, we ask questions if we want to. No pressure, no complicated speechesBut flavors, yes! That's also what makes the experience enjoyable.

Depending on the chosen option, the tasting may be accompanied by Provençal toastsAnd for those who wish to prolong the moment, some cheese and charcuterie boards are also offered. However, be warned, you might never leave here!

Good to know: The estate also offers a self-guided walk of approximately 40 minutes, with a guide available at reception. It's a great way to complement your visit and enjoy the surroundings a little longer, whether with friends or family. with your dog !

our opinion

Domaine Souviou Le Beausset

What we remember most about Domaine Souviou is the balanceThe setting is there, of course. The view, the olive trees, the terraced gardens… But the visit follows behind, with accessible contentwithout being simplistic, and a real diversity between wine, olive oil and heritage.

People don't just come for a tasting, but for spend some time thereTake some time to discover a place that has a story to tell. Or simply take a stroll around the grounds, admire the King and Queen, and breathe in some fresh air just minutes from the coast.
