Each beginning of the year is marked by the flowering of a tree, a flowering shrub that lights up our gardens: the mimosa. And in the Var, we love these little balls of sunny yellow pollen so much that we have come a long way. Zoom on the mimosa route and its highlight, Mimosalia.

The mimosa, quesako?

Perhaps you have come across him during a walk in our alleys? Maybe you even felt it? Mimosa is a tree with fine leaves and yellow pompom-like flowers. The flowering of the latter generally arrives in January to last a good month.

Visiter Bandol en hiver

À the office, we love mimosa, finally, above all soft ! Its scent reminds me of the afternoons I spent playing with my brother in my auntie's garden. A huge mimosa bloomed as if by magic, overnight, every winter. For some, the scent of its flowers is heady, even tiring in the long run. For me, it is the scent of winter, and more particularly the smell of winter in Bandol.

The mimosa route

I am not the only one to have a real adoration for this tree. Proof, a mimosa road even exists! This one starts at the aptly named Bormes-les-Mimosas to end at Grasse , the land of perfumers. A nice coincidence isn't it?

Each year, events punctuate this route from January to March with among others: markets, guided tours, workshops, tastings. Because yes, in the South, mimosa is a whole universe. From the simple flower to the most exquisite delicacies to end with the finest of perfumes, mimosa comes in all sauces.

how to get there ?

We admit it, for Bandol, the easiest will be the car. It is indeed ideal for a day trip. To give you an idea, Bormes-les-Mimosas is about an hour's drive away. If you don't have yours, here are the rental companies available on Bandol :

If you would rather leave by public transport, we advise you to go there by bus. Indeed, the journey will be longer than by car, since you will have to count about 2 hrs. But it will still be simpler than the train.

So to get to Bormes by bus, you will first need to borrow the 885 from the Wine Library from Bandol. This will take you straight to the Toulon bus station. Of the, another bus will be waiting for you, the 878 who, although being destined for Saint Tropez, will first drop you off at Bormes.
