Every year, the Paris Agricultural Show is an opportunity for everyone to showcase the talent and know-how of French artisans. And in the Var, there is an agriculture that is dear to our hearts: wine. That's good, the 2025 medals have just been awarded to the most deserving estates. Spoiler alert : no fewer than 25 AOC Bandol vineyards feature in the rankings!
A few words about the Bandol appellation

Bandol Wines, with 25 centuries of wine-growing tradition, have acquired an international reputation that dates back to Antiquity. At that time, Greek sailors founded trading posts along the Mediterranean coast, introducing the cultivation of vines to the region. Later, in the 1941th century, these wines, improved by sea voyages, were highly appreciated at the court of the kings of France. In XNUMX, the Bandol vineyard was one of the first to obtain the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC), thus recognizing the exceptional quality of its productions.

Today, the Bandol terroir, which groups around fifty areas, extends over more than 1 hectares from the Sainte-Baume massif to the Mediterranean coast and benefits from 600 hours of annual sunshine. This privileged exposure, combined with calcareous and well-drained soils, offers ideal conditions for the culture of Mourvèdre, the emblematic grape variety of the appellation. This demanding grape variety gives Bandol red wines their tannic structure and remarkable aging potential.
Thus, the wines of this appellation come in three colors:
- Red : made mainly from Mourvèdre, it is distinguished by its deep color and its complex aromas of black fruits, spices and undergrowth.
- Rosé : made from a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault, it has a salmon color and fruity and spicy notes, ideal to accompany Mediterranean cuisine.
- White : more elegant, more confidential, it offers delicate aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits.
