Between the crystal clear waters, the typical Var flora and the breathtaking panoramas, its environment seduces all those who venture there. For your lunch break, we recommend two coves: that of a hard time (submarine) and that of Alon Harbor. The first, better known as “submarine beach”, is located about an hour's walk from the city center of Bandol. This pebble cove, more intimate than Port d'Alon, is also more difficult to access. You will have to trudge a little before seeing the horizon clear. That said, your efforts will be rewarded: fewer people, a mythical local rock and a translucent Mediterranean.
The cove of Port d’Alon, for its part, is the most famous of the coastal path. A key stage of the hike, you will inevitably cross it during your walk. This cove has a more family atmosphere. Our tips for picnicking in Bandol
For decades we have rigorously practiced the sporting activity called “picnic”. We might as well tell you that we are experienced! So here is our advice for you for a simply perfect meal outside.
The midday picnic
- The essential equipment : sunglasses, sunscreen, a trash bag for your trash (to bring with you), a pocket ashtray so you don't throw your cigarette butts into the environment and of course, a large water bottle.
- Recommended equipment : a beach mattress, water shoes (if pebble beach), a cooler and a parasol (if picnic at the beach).
- Our tip : opt for XXL-sized beach towels or a large tablecloth to unpack all your food and avoid eating sand/earth/dust at the same time.
The evening picnic
- The essential equipment : a trash bag for your garbage (to bring back with you), a pocket ashtray so you don't throw your cigarette butts into the environment and obviously a small jacket to counter the coolness of the evening.
- Recommended equipment : a beach mattress (to better look at the stars).
- Our tip : remember to take a portable camping light (LED type) with you. In addition to creating a rather nice atmosphere, it will prevent you from confusing your chips with a pile of dead leaves.
