In recent days, the mistral has been blowing hard over the entire Var coast. This leads to unforeseen events, including the closure of the massifs and therefore of the coastal path.

GOOD TO KNOW

Every year, we are subject to the vagaries of the weather and in particular those of mistral. This strong wind, typical of our region, can sometimes be worse than the rain for us residents. But above all, it can be very dangerous for our beautiful nature, especially if it is associated with episodes of extreme heat.

Indeed, during strong gusts, the fire risk is at its maximum. It is then our responsibility to follow the guidelines to protect the local flora and fauna.

Closure of massifs

Sample map.

The main measure is that of the closure of the massifs. Every day, the department puts a fire risk map online. This tells us if the massifs remain open for leisure or not. To find this map and have real-time access to the latest information, you can click:

what are the right reflexes to have?

Get informed. Here is the main gesture to remember.

Before embarking on a hike in the heart of nature, find out about openings and closings, access conditions, recommendations... How? It is very simple : call us ! In summer, we are at your disposal 7 days a week, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. to advise you. You can therefore join us the day before your outing to make sure that you can start discovering the local flora.

As a reminder, here is our telephone number: 04 94 29 41 35. And if you prefer by email, here is our address: bandoltourisme@bandoltourisme.fr.

And of course …

Also, don't forget common sense:

  • Do not throw cigarette ends in nature: already, for a question of respect for the environment, but also because if ever your butt is badly extinguished, a fire can break out;
  • No campfire in the forest : even if you are the king or queen of barbecues and the fire knows you, an accident can very quickly happen. A gust of wind, a few seconds of inattention and a whole massif can catch fire;
  • Avoid barbecuing in times of drought : especially for non-electric barbecues, as well as for campfires, an accident quickly happens;
  • Do not burn your vegetable waste anytime: we avoid burning them in a drought and even less in a windy period.
