We had the chance to experience Kayak Bandol hikes. Accompanied excursions on the water, along the Var coast. Between discovery of the coastal path from the sea, exploration of the Bandola islands and initiation to the local fauna and flora, we were amazed with this extraordinary nautical activity. Back to this afternoon placed under the sign of disconnection.
Kayak Bandol: experts in local flora and fauna
Erwan and Vincent are two experienced and passionate guides. They are pleased to offer locals and holidaymakers beautiful accompanied excursions, not on land, but at sea. Their favorite boat: the kayak. As for their objective, it is to make you discover Bandol as we rarely see it, from the sea.

An afternoon along the Bandol coast
It is therefore with pleasure that we had the chance to test their half-day hike. The appointment was made at 14 p.m. at Dog Beach, the beach just below the Deferrari Stadium. There Erwan and Vincent were waiting for us with the equipment already ready! The first half hour consisted of a briefing :
- explanation of the route and equipment;
- team equipment: life jacket, waterproof pouch, canvas bag to collect waste found at sea;
- demonstration of the operation of the paddles.
We were off! For the occasion, we formed pairs. That said, you can absolutely be solo on your ship as it is comfortable and easy to handle. The departure was therefore from this small creek. The first stop was the island of Bendor. Not to land, because let's remember, the island is closed for work, but to go around it and discover its hidden corners.
Then, we took the direction of Ile Rousse. On the road, we crossed the beautiful beaches of Renecros and Capelin. And we can say it: we were delighted to be able enjoy the sea away from the crowds! Because it is always more pleasant to be alone in the world than to huddle together on the edge of the beach.
After touring this wild island and observing the baby gulls, we docked at Engraviers beach. Yes, because after paddling 45 minutes, a break is needed as they say! On the beach, we were able to benefit from Vincent's explanations of the local fauna. Do you know the difference between a seagull, a gull and a gabian? Or have you ever heard of velelles? Me no. Anyway until now. And this is precisely the strong point of Kayak Bandol : in addition to living a great experience in the great outdoors, the guides accompany us and develop our naturalist culture.
Then, we started the return, along the coast, to the Dog Beach. Here again, alone on the sea, far from the hikers who had been watching us from the coastal path.
Kayaking in Bandol: a great idea for an outing
We LOVED this outing! For 2 hours, we explored the surroundings, surveyed the Mediterranean, discovered new coves and learned more about our environment. All away from the crowds, the city, the beaches and the hiking trails. Because even if we love our coastal path and it remains a flagship activity in Bandol, seeing it from the sea is always impressive. We can observe all its coves, the ecosystem it possesses, access corners inaccessible by land, wild beaches... It is a good alternative to walking, an extraordinary excursion that gives us an unusual view of our beautiful city.
