The sky is shining, the weather is good, you leave the table and wonder where you could go for a walk in Bandol? Here are some leads!

Walks of less than an hour

Promenade on the harbor

  • Departure : Central parking / Arrival : the big pier
  • Perfect for: a breath of fresh air without the fuss
  • Estimated time (one way): 30 minutes taking the time to stroll
  • Level: very easy

Did you know? Bandol was once a fishing villages. Life and the city were therefore centered around the port. Even today our downtown revolves mainly around the quay.

The first walk that we suggest is therefore a walk along the port. Departing from our beautiful carousel, which is right next to the Central parking, head west (on the right when you are facing the merry-go-round), and start your visit. You will first walk along the part reserved for pointed, these typical boats from the south of France. You will then admire the slightly larger pointy boats, which some call yachts, before continuing a little further along the other pleasure boats.

Even if you are not keen on navigation, this ride is still very pleasant. For what ? Because walk on the quay, in bright sunshine, with the spray of the sea, hearing the gentle lapping of the wavelets…there is nothing like it! Continue your walk to the end of the mole, to have a breathtaking view of the Bay of Bandol.

NB: before leaving, buy a little snack and install them yourself on the rocks of the large dyke. Disconnection, pleasure and tanned complexion guaranteed!

walk in the canet park

  • Departure: roundabout side (Bd de Pierreplane) / Arrival: Eden Roc beach
  • Perfect for: children, or to take refuge in a heat wave
  • Estimated time: 20 minutes (without games break)
  • Level: very easy

The Canet Park is also a key place in Bandol life. There, a daycare center and crèche are active all year round to keep the local toddlers busy.

The walk that we propose to you is that of the discovery of the Park. Start at the roundabout side entrance and head left. There you will come across the lower part of the park also known as " the perfect place for a game of hide and seek“. We say that we say nothing.

Go up to the upper part and take on your right to retrieve the trail. On your way you will find a small field, perfect for an improvised game of pétanque. Continuing further, you will come across THE terrain of the park, the corner ideal for a game of football, a giant trap trap and other activities.

By joining the other entrance to the park, you will arrive at the cove of pebbles Eden roc where you can take a break by the sea and practice your ricochets.

NB: the park is full of hidden corners with a play area for the little ones, approved sports facilities for a session facing the sea, shortcuts in all directions... Don't hesitate to explore it!

Walks of less than three hours

The historical route

  • Departure : the Tourist Office / Arrival : barry beach
  • Perfect for: discovering the city differently
  • Estimated time: 2 hours
  • Level: easy (be careful, stairs are on the course)

Emblematic route of the city of Bandol, the historical route takes you on an exploration of the city, its history and above all its secrets. On the program: hidden alleys, anecdotes of celebrities and of course unsuspected stories. A ride that will take you port to the pretty Barry's Cove, going through the ascent of the castle, races or the beauty église from the city.

Rides of three hours or more

The coastal path

  • Departure : Renecros beach / Arrival : Calanque de Port d'Alon
  • Perfect for: a day hike with a picnic on the beach
  • Estimated time (round trip): 4 hours
  • Level: intermediate (dirt trail with a lot of ups and downs, roots)

The coastal path is THE local hike. The one that will amaze you, the one that will allow you to cut yourself in the middle of nature, to enjoy the beauty of our coasts. And to start, we advise you to start from the beautiful sandy beach of Renecros. You will cross the coves of pebbles in the town before entering the dirt path which will allow you to overlook the sea until the small cove of Port d'Alon.

Such a walk deserves a dedicated page! So, to find out more, we invite you to click here.

NB: for a perfect day, we advise you to leave around 10 a.m. with a picnic in the bag. Thus, you can take a lunch/swimming break at the cove of Port d'Alon.

The bandol classic

Bandol Classic randonnées
  • Departure : Renecros beach / Arrival : english cove (loop)
  • Perfect for: All-season hiking
  • Estimated time: 3 hours
  • Level: easy – only difficulty, the last descent (the one in the photo)

The 2nd hike in Bandol is none other than the Bandol Classic. This starts the same way as the coastal path, along the sea. It's at the top of the climb English Creek that it differs. Goodbye the coast and hello the heights of Bandol ! Wooden posts will be there to guide you in your little ascent. As a reward: the summit of Bandol with a panoramic view of the bay up to the beak of the eagle of La Ciotat.
